30 DIY Fall Air Freshener Sprays

I love making these fall air freshener sprays.  They’re an all-natural (chemical and toxin-free) way to bring all the wonderful smells of fall into my home whenever I want.

Plus with 30 newly updated and improved fall room spray recipes, it’s so easy to make my favorite autumn scents.  All I need is water, a little Epsom salt, and essential oils and I can whip up all-natural homemade air freshener sprays in about 30 seconds.  There are recipes for pumpkin pie, apple orchard, gingersnap cookies, vanilla spice, mulled cider, crisp breeze, orange cinnamon buns, spiced chai, sweater weather, walk in the woods, fall rain, flannel, immune booster, warm apple pie, and many more.

I also love diffusing essential oils this time of year.  click here to check out my favorite 30 fall diffuser blends.  Don’t have a diffuser?  No problem, check out this post on 25 ways to diffuse without a diffuser or this one on how to make a super cute diffuser necklace for less than $1 or this one on how to make a reed diffuser using essential oils.

How do you make fall air freshener sprays with essential oils?

  1. Start with 8 oz spray bottle (glass or essential-oil-safe plastic bottles, such as PET #1 plastic or HDPE #2 plastic)
  2. add pinch of Epsom salts — Epsom salt helps to keep the essential oils emulsified in the water.
  3. add 40-50 drops of essential oils (see below for recommended blends that total 40-50 drops)
  4. fill bottle with distilled water (or substitute with boiled and cooled filtered water)

    • Hi Susan,
The link for the labels is at the bottom of the article (right below the recipes). https://oneessentialcommunity.com/the-20-best-fall-room-sprays/
The printable for the labels is free. You can wither print the labels on label paper or do what I do and simply print the labels on plain copier paper and then stick them on bottles with shipping tape. Super easy, looks great, and the labels stay on the bottles.

    • Hi Lisa,
How long the air freshener last will vary for different people. I usually use mine up within a couple months and they’ve always been fine.
To make them last as long as possible, start with clean and sanitized bottles, measuring cups, and any other tools you use.
Then make sure you use either distilled water or filtered water that’s been boiled and cool.
