I absolutely love my recipes for ultimate sugar scrub and exfoliating sugar scrub cubes.
They smell great and leave my skin smooth and super soft.
But when it comes to my feet, I need a little extra "oomph".
My dry, cracked heels need some extra scrubbing power to get them sandal ready.
And that's where this homemade foot scrub comes in.
It has both Epsom salt and sugar to exfoliate, smooth, soften, and rejuvenate my tired toes and tough soles.
What's in this homemade foot scrub?
organic cane sugar - Exfoliates and polishes skin as it sloughs away dead skin cells leaving a soft, smooth, very touchable finish.
Epsom salts- Powerful (yet gentle) exfoliation. Plus its high concentration of magnesium eases stress and relaxes the body.
baking soda - A naturally alkaline substance with a reputation for helping to remove toxins. Plus it helps to soften the skin and leaves skin feeling silky soft.
chamomile tea - Helps to lessen puffiness in tired, swollen feet. Also helps to chill out, relax, and de-stress from the day. Reenergizes, reinvigorates, and rejuvenates!
mica powder (optional)- adds fun color to the foot scrub.
avocado oil - The beta carotene, protein, lecithin, fatty acids, and vitamins A, D, and E found in avocado oil help moisturize dry feet and cracked heels.
Roman chamomile essential oil - Promotes relaxation, calms, nerves, and helps reduce stress.
lemongrass essential oil - Amazing scent plus many great therapeutic benefits -- restores energy and combats mental fatigue, promotes a positive outlook, and refreshes mind & body.
lavender essential oil - Soothes skin, calms, clears the mind, and helps eliminate nervous tension.

How to use this foot scrub
For feet:
- soak feet in tub of hot water for 5-10 minutes to soften skin
- apply foot scrub to feet
- massage scrub in
- rinse well
- pat skin dry
- note: be careful when you stand up. the oil in the foot scrub can make your feet slippery.
This scrub is great for feet, but it's also great for all over your body, especially for rough skin on elbows and knees:
- wash your skin with soap or body wash and rinse well
- scoop out sugar scrub with a clean spoon (be careful to not get water into the sugar scrub container)
- apply a generous amount of sugar scrub to wet skin
- work on one area of body at a time, then when finished with that area apply sugar scrub to another area and work on that area
- massage sugar scrub into skin using a circular motion to help exfoliate and remove dead skin cells
- rinse well
- pat skin dry
- apply whipped body butter for an extra layer of moisture (and it keeps your skin feeling amazing!!) click here for my absolute favorite recipe for DIY whipped body butter

Hi Sarah! Is organic Turbinado sugar the same as organic cane sugar? I’m a huge fan of your recipes!
Thanks for sharing.
Hi Jennifer,
Yes, turbinado sugar is a raw organic cane sugar, but it is different from the granulated cane sugar that you bake with. Turbinado is from the first pressing of the sugar cane, and that results in turbinado sugar being coarser than regular granulated cane sugar.
So turbinado sugar has larger, coarser sugar crystal. And the granulated cane sugar has small, smoother sugar crystals.
I usually use the regular granulated form of cane sugar in this recipe, just because I always have that around, but you could use turbinado instead. It has great exfoliating properties.
In fact, in this other sugar scrub recipe, I use both brown sugar and turbinado sugar because of the great exfoliating combination.
Hi Sarah! Can I substitute Organic Turbinado sugar for the organic cane sugar?
I am a huge fan of your recipes! Thanks for sharing!
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you, Jennifer.
Yes, you definitely can. Turbinado will give you a little extra scrubbing power.
Thanks for the kind note!
I hope you have fun making it.
