When do you crave sugar? During an afternoon slump? Dessert after a great meal? Late-night binging?
If you’re the like me, the answer is yes, yes, yes! In fact, it might be better to ask when don’t I crave sugar.

Personal Inhalers to Help Quit Sugar
While I love using a diffuser, sometimes it just isn’t practical. When that happens, personal inhalers are a wonderful alternative to diffusers. Inhalers are portable, effective, economical, and don’t affect others around you. I like to refer to these personal inhalers as “portable craving kickers”.
How to make an essential oil personal inhaler:
- use an essential oil inhaler like this or like this
- Place cotton wick on small glass plate or bowl
- drops about 15 drops of essential oil onto the wick
- if any oils got onto the plate/bowl simply use tweezers to roll wick around and absorb the oils
- put wick into inhaler
- put cap in the bottom of inhaler and make sure it is tightly sealed
How to use inhaler: Remove cover. Place inhaler close to your nose and inhale deeply. Use as needed.
Inhalers can last for a month or longer, depending on how often they are opened. To refresh scent, remove wick and add more essential oils following the steps above.
Here are a few essential oil personal inhaler blends that I really like for beating sugar cravings:
5 drops grapefruit + 5 drops peppermint + 5 drops lavender
2 drops dill + 1 drop fennel + 2 drops lavender + 2 drops lemongrass
10 drops grapefruit + 3 drops lemon + 2 drops ylang ylang
8 drops peppermint + 4 drops bergamot + 2 drops spearmint + 1 drop ylang ylang
10 drops dill + 5 drops lemon
4 drops cinnamon + 4 drops fir +2 drops peppermint + 5 drops orange

How to make roller bottle blends:

Quit Sticks
What are Quit Sticks? They’re simply essential-oil-infused toothpicks that you chew on or suck on when you feel a cravings coming on.
How to make Quit Sticks:
- Use a small glass container (like a small mason jar)
- Add 2 tsp olive oil- enough to cover the bottom of the jar
- Add 10-20 drops essential oil
- Mix well
- Add toothpicks (about 60-80)
- Arrange toothpicks so that the bottom tip of every toothpick is touching the oil/EO mixture
- screw the lid onto the jar (or cover the glass container)
- let them sit for 1-2 days to absorb the oil/EO mixture
Here are a few ideas for essential oil combinations to try in your Quit Sticks:
10 drops dill and 10 drops lemon
20 drops grapefruit
10 drops cinnamon (this is a very strong essential oil, so I find 10 drops is plenty for me)
