What’s in mirror & glass cleaner recipe?
white vinegar – removes film from glass surface, cleans dirt & grime, and eliminates smudges
rubbing alcohol or vodka – evaporates quickly so streaks don’t form, leaves spot-free finish, and shines surface
cornstarch – this is the “secret” ingredient that makes this the BEST glass cleaner! Why does cornstarch work so well in glass cleaners? Turns out glass and mirrors aren’t actually perfectly smooth. They have teeny tiny pits in the surface. And water can get trapped in those pits and the water in most glass cleaners gets bonded or attracted to the water in those pits. That causes water spots and streaks. The cornstarch in this DIY glass cleaner breaks those water bonds and results in the most amazing shiny, streak-free, spot-free finish you’ve probably ever seen.
essential oil – disinfects, deodorizes, and cuts through grease, dirt, & residue

Where to get supplies?
8 oz spray bottle– here or here
funnel – I got mine here – I love the large funnel size and “no glug” air release. Makes it so easy to pour! No more messes of liquids overflowing the funnel like I used to have with other funnels.
white vinegar – grocery store or you can buy large bottles of white vinegar for practically nothing at Costco
rubbing alcohol – drug store, Walmart, or target in the pharmacy section
cornstarch – grocery store in the baking aisle

Do you think arrowroot powder would work the same as the cornstarch?
Great recipe. I use your recipes all the time and love your blog but don’t think I have ever said hi or thank you. So hi and thanks so much for sharing such great ways to live a cleaner life! I’m a blogger too so I know how much hard work you put into it. xo
Hi Celene,
Thanks for your kind note!
What’s your blog?
It is a lot of hard work, but thankfully, it’s also very fun!

How long does the window cleaner last?
Mine lasts for a couple of months before I run out and make another batch.
This cleaner is great! I’m fact my husband likes it so much he said I had to leave a comment to say how good it is (yes, it’s that good)!
Thank you for sharing!!
Hello, I just made the window spray and it seems to work pretty well so far. I’m really excited about replacing my old window cleaner with this non-toxic one. I tried the first blend of lemon and basil and I would not recommend that one if you are using DōTerra’s basil oil. The basil really is really potent and overpowers the lemon. Next time, I will try another blend. Thank you for posting this information.
Cheryl, you could always just use more lemon, and less of the basil, to get the balance that you want.
