With smaller granules than traditional baking sugar, this superfine sugar is perfect for gently exfoliating lips.
It helps remove dead skin cells, making lips soft and smooth.
Not only do candy canes smell and taste delicious, when ground into a fine powder, they are also great for exfoliating lips.
Plus, mini candy canes are also great for tying to the outside of the lip scrub jar as a fun way to wrap up this special Christmas gift.
Apricot kernel oil resembles the natural sebum produced by our skin, so it’s easily absorbed by skin and lips and moisturizes deeply.
The main constituents of apricot kernel oil are oleic acids, linoleic acids, alpha-linoleic acids, palmitic acid, steric acid, and vitamins A and E. Â These wonderful nutrients helps heal chapped lips, boost collagen production for plumper, younger looking lips, and soothe and replenish dry lips
Peppermint helps improve blood flow and circulation for rosy lips.
Peppermint also helps heal and soothe cracked lips.
Peppermint also naturally plumps your lips, making them look fuller and more youthful.

How to make homemade lip scrub
step 1:Â add 2 tablespoons super fine sugar to a small bowl
tip: While you can substitute regular table sugar for the super fine sugar, using super fine sugar is preferred because its smaller size granules exfoliate and smooth lips better than the larger sized crystals of regular granulated sugar.
step 2: put 2-3 small candy canes in a Ziploc baggie. Then hit the candy canes with a rolling pin to break up the candy canes into a fine powder. Add 1.5 teaspoons of this candy cane powder to the bowl with the sugar.
step 3: put 2 teaspoons of apricot kernel oil in a small bowl, then add 5 drops peppermint essential oil to the apricot kernel oil. Mix well.
step 4:Â add the apricot kernel oil and peppermint essential oil mixture to the candy cane and sugar bowl
tip: If you don’t have apricot kernel oil, you can substitute with another light-tasting edible oil like avocado oil or sweet almond oil. Just be sure to use an oil that’s both safe to eat (since it will be on your lips) and also not overly flavorful (like olive oil) because it would overpower the other flavors in the lip scrub.
step 5:Â mix well
step 6:Â scoop into small jar
yield:Â This recipe makes about 3 tablespoons of lip scrub.
tip:Â Use jars that are safe to use with diluted essential oil, either glass jars or PET plastic jars.

step 7: Â add a label (click here for a free printable label)
tip: You can print this label on full-sheet label paper, or do what I do and print the label on regular printer paper and attach it to the spray bottle with packing tape. It’s cheap and easy to do. Plus, I find that the labels stay on better using packing tape than with regular label paper, and the packing tape protects the label really well, which keeps the labels looking great for a long time.
tip: To help the label stick really well, first wipe the tube clean with a little rubbing alcohol. Allow to dry and then apply the label.
step 8 (optional):Â if you’d like, turn it into a gift by tying a mini candy cane and a bit of greenery around the bottle using some baker’s twine
How to use
- use a pea-size amount
- rub gently on your lips to buff away rough, dry skin
- then lick off excess — YUM!
- apply a lip balm to moisturize
- use 1-2 times a week, as needed
